The case

Utah's attorney general charged the prediction-market company KalshiEX LLC and its co-founders, Tarek Mansour and Luana Lopes Lara, alleging Kalshi illegally promoted gambling by letting a state agent in Utah place sports wagers in September 2026. Each defendant is charged with 14 counts: one count of pattern of unlawful activity (second-degree felony), 12 counts of online gambling promotion (third-degree felonies) and one count of gambling promotion (misdemeanor). The charges came a day after the federal Commodity Futures Trading Commission sued Utah to block enforcement of its gambling laws against Kalshi. Case number not yet confirmed.
